Sarah says she still has a lot of dreams for herself and her family (Star Cinema)

Divine Geronimo is not as strict or overprotective as she is perceived to be – at least that's according to her daughter Sarah.
The Popstar Princess once again stood up for her controversial mother, who’s often alleged as reason for the former’s potential romances getting botched in the past.
In her live interview on “The Buzz” Sunday, the 24-year-old admitted that she has learned to appreciate her mother’s protectiveness.
“There was a time na parang confused ka rin — sana nalagpasan ko na ’yang stage na ’yan — kasi parang, iniisip mo, sobra ba silang protective? Ano bang dahilan bakit sobra silang bawal ganito, bawal ganyan? Pero as I age, as I experience things, as I experience pain… naiintindihan ko kung bakit ganun siya, at nagpapasalamat ako nang sobra-sobra-sobra na ganun siya ka-protective.
“May nakita akong ibang mothers sobra talagang… strikta. Si Mommy, hindi, hindi siya ganun. Sobra niya lang talaga kaming mahal,” she said.
Sarah’s love life is seemingly the center of attention anew, fueled by her growing rapport with fellow “The Voice of the Philippines” coach Bamboo Mañalac.
A self-confessed Bamboo fan, Sarah junked the possibility of being linked to him, telling ABS-CBN News in a separate interview, “Bakit naman? Wala naman dapat ika-link. Diyos ko, may asawa po ’yung tao. Huwag naman na ang personal na buhay ni Bamboo.”
Her personal life aside, the singer-actress still has many dreams for her family and for herself.
“Gusto ko naman maging proud siya (Mommy Divine) dahil anak niya ko. It was an ordinary Sunday.

We thought the noontime TV variety show “ASAP” would be presenting its usual fare of performances last May 5.

We were wrong.

As the introduction came heralding “The Voice of the Philippines” judges, we saw on our screens two of the country’s most admired singers—Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo Mañalac—starting their rendition of Pink and Nate Ruess’s “Just Give Me a Reason.” Just a showcase of two talents, we thought, as has been the case week after week.

But, I was also intrigued: how would the pop princess and a rock icon fare in a duet?

We were in for an incredible surprise.

It was not one singer trying to outdo the other with their biritan or kulot vocal calisthenics. It was two singers who, I believe, were made for each other—vocally, that is.

The mesh of their vocal prowess was impeccable—complementing each other smoothly and engaging in harmonies that were almost magical. And, just like they do in “The Voice” (the local version of which has Bamboo and Sarah as vocal coaches), I turned away from the TV set, closed my eyes and just listened. Indeed, my initial impression was right. It was not just your usual pairing of two individual “premium” or “powerhouse” talents.

It was definitely a match made in heaven.

Music producers should look beyond Sarah and Bamboo as talent show judges. They should immediately get a mind-and-heart-blowing song from a brilliant composer like Ogie Alcasid (or even Bamboo himself) and haul this unusual tandem to a recording studio to get them to recreate the moment they had in “ASAP.”

For sure, it will be something memorable and exciting for OPM.

Lucio Tan’s son Michael G. Tan is president of the taipan’s investment holding firm LT Group Inc. Educated in Singapore’s Dunman High School, Peking University in Beijing and University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, Mike is known to be consistently filial to his parents. The singer-actress personally accepted the award for Sarah G Live as Best TV Variety Program from the KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas).

She told the crowd at the Star Theater, Star City complex in Pasay City: "Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Panginoong Diyos sa pagkaka reward ng biyaya na ito. Nakasarap malaman na bukod sa solid supporters na nag-a-appreciate, mayroon ring credible na institution na pinupuna ang iyong hard work.

"Hindi po naging madali ang pagbuo ng Sarah G Live. Makulay ang journey," she admitted, prompting her to pause as she
was at a loss for words.

She admitted that working on Sarah G Live helped a lot not only in her career but also her development as a person.
"Personally po, malaki ang naging tulong sa akin ng pagkakaroon ng sariling variety show para mag-mature, hindi lang as a performer but
also as a person and as a girl who is now a woman. Naks!"
She then let out her trademark giggle.

When Sarah was interviewed after she accepted her award, she was asked if she wants to have another variety show in the future.

She admitted: "Mahirap po kasi magkaroon ng sariling musical variety show. Isa po tayong concert performer at bilang concert performer, kailangan ponatin ng time para makapag prepare ng magandang show everytime lumalabas tayo onstage. Kailangan rin i-consider yun."
Sarah was seated at the left side of the Star Theater and when Gerald Anderson arrived, he was seated on the right side of the venue.

When asked if Sarah had the chance to interact with Gerald, shemotioned as if walking away as she said, "Halika na."

She mentioned that she had a colorful journey while she was hosting Sarah G Live. Was Gerald a part of that colorful journey?

Sarah did not answer directly and tried to leave the venue already.

However, she paused when she was asked regarding her latest movie It Takes a Man and a Woman, which has already overtaken Praybeyt Benjamin.

The 21st Golden Dove Awards of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) was held last night, April 26, at the Star Theater, Star City complex, Pasay City.

ABS-CBN executive Charo Santos-Concio and broadcaster Ted Failon were among the recipients of the highest honors given by the KBP.

The CEO and President of the Kapamilya Network fondly looked back at the days of her youth as she accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award. She quipped, "Ito pong award na ito ay patunay na nagkakaedad na 'ko."

She turned serious as she continued, "It is humbling to be part of the roster of the KBP Lifetime Achievement Awardees. I would like to thank Gabby Lopez and the hardworking men and women of ABS-CBN.

"Itong karangalan na ito ay nagbabalik-alaala sa akin bilang fan sa Calapan, Oriental Mindoro na nanonood ng mga pelikula at mga programa ng ABS-CBN.

"I just wanted to be a good storyteller like my father and my job allows me to be one."

For his part, Ted Failon also looked back at his humble beginnings as a driver/reporter. "Ako ay naiyak dahil sa mga lumang pictures," referring to the slideshow of his vintage photos taken during his long career.

He continued: "Forty years ng KBP this year at timing rin po dahil 30th year ko na sa broadcast. Very timely at very inspiring sa akin na galing sa maliit na istasyon sa probinsiya.

"Gusto ko lang noon na marinig ng nanay ko ang boses ko sa radyo. Ang tatay ko naman mas gusto na magtinda ako sa karinderia sa construction site.

"Sa 30 years ko sa broadcasting, 23 na taon na yun ay sa ABS-CBN... After 30 years, hindi ito simpleng ambisyon. Hindi lang ito fame, fortune and glory. Ito ay mission pala. Ang aking tinig at aking talento ay pahiram lang ng Diyos.

"Nais kong magpasalamat kay Gabby Lopez dahil siya ang nagpautang sa akin ng loan para sa first apartment ko dahil dati natutulog lang ako sa drivers' quarters ng ABS-CBN."

Child star Xyriel Manabat was one of the Kapamilya celebrities who attended that night. She accepted the trophy for Wansapanataym, which won the Best TV Children's Program.

Dyan Castillejo gave a speech when Sports Unlimited won for Best TV Sports Program. According to Dyan, her co-host Marc Nelson was unable to attend the awards night because he is covering the dragonboat competition in Boracay. As she ended her speech, she took a step backward and almost fell down because of the wooden steps onstage.

Cheryl Cosim of TV5 bagged the Best TV Newscaster Award. In her acceptance speech, she said, "This award gives great pride to my family and my network TV5. Binabahagi ko rin ito sa ABS-CBN—kung ano ako ngayon dahil rin sa inyo yun."

Sarah Geronimo personally accepted the award for Sarah G Live as Best TV Variety Program. In her acceptance speech, she admitted: "Hindi po naging madali ang pagbuo ng Sarah G Live. MANILA – Fresh from the success of her latest movie, singer-actress Sarah Geronimo will soon be launched as the main endorser of a popular residential property developer.

At the annual stockholders' meeting of the SM Development Corp. on Wednesday, the company's marketing head Nita Claravall revealed Geronimo will be part of their family as its brand ambassador next month.

"For this year, we will have new brand ambassadors, the most popular women in the country today... By end of May, we will be launching Sarah Geronimo," Claravall said.

Geronimo will be joining Kapamilya talent Anne Curtis in SMDC’s roster of endorsers.

The 24-year-old singer-actress is among the most in-demand celebrity endorser today, appearing in the marketing campaigns of Jollibee, Unica Hija, Cebuana Lhuillier, Natasha, Sunsilk, Charmee, Globe and others.

Geronimo also made the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s list of top individual taxpayers for the year 2010.

Ayon sa Star Cinema, kumita na ito ng lagpas sa P300 million. Pumapangalawa na ngayon, in terms of box-office gross, sa Sisterakas.
Sa panayam naman ni Korina Sanchez ng DZMM sa Popstar Princess last Thursday, April 18, sinabi ni Sarah na masaya silang lahat pero hindi nila inaasam na malagpasan ang kinita ng Sisterakas.

MANILA, Philippines -- The wedding vows of the characters of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo in their latest film together were written by both Kapamilya stars themselves, according to the writer behind the box-office hit.

"It Takes a Man and a Woman" writer Carmi Raymundo said Cruz and Geronimo were nervous about the idea of putting down in words the vows of their characters Miggy and Laida.

"Direk Cathy (Garcia-Molina) and I told Sarah and Lloydie that we want them to write Miggy and Laida’s wedding vows. Gusto ko din kasi marinig from them kung ano sa tingin nila yung learnings ng characters nila,” said Raymundo, who was also the headwriter of the first two installments of the romantic-comedy series, "A Very Special Love" (2008) and "You Changed My Life" (2009).

She added: "Both were nervous kung kaya ba nila magsulat but they were very excited. When they showed me what they wrote, I knew right away that they wrote from the hearts of their characters. They were so sincere, ang ganda!"

In "It Takes a Man and a Woman," which is still showing in theaters nationwide, Miggy and Laida are seen struggling to co-exist in the same company after breaking up over a character portrayed by actress Isabelle Daza.

Now with more experience and a "fiercer" attitude after spending years in the United States, the returning Laida even challenges Miggy, her former employer, in his business decisions.

MANILA – Sarah Geronimo admitted she never thought it was possible to attain the level of success that she is currently enjoying.

Whether it be in acting or singing, Geronimo is being recognized not just in the country but also in the international scene.

Just recently, Geronimo was nominated in Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and the World Music Awards 2013.

In a live interview on "The Buzz" on Sunday, the 24-year-old singer-actress said she will forever be thankful for her parents and supporters, who have been by her side in her 10 years in showbiz.

“[I’m very thankful for] having the kind of family that I have and ‘yung mga supporters ko at mga magulang ko talaga. Iba 'yung reward talaga na ibibigay sa iyo ng Diyos kapag sinusunod mo ang mga magulang mo,” she said.

Asked if there is still anything else that she is wishing for, Geronimo said: “Pagdating talaga sa success mo, sa career mo, kung ano ang ibinibigay mo sa mga tao, naibabalik sa iyo ng sobra sobra pa. Siyempre may mga bagay tayo na sa sarili lang natin iyon. Pero naman ito, kailangan tignan mo na lang kung ano ang sobra sobrang binibigay ng Diyos.”

“Ito yung reminder na hindi ka dapat maghanap pa. Pero tao lang tayo. Lahat tayo mayroon ‘ay sana...’ May mga ganoon pero hindi po love life ito ha. Mas personal,” she added.

Geronimo’s most recent movie “It Takes a Man and a Woman” has already earned P300 million only two weeks after it was released in theaters. It is on track to become the highest grossing Filipino movie of all time.

She was also chosen to be among the coaches of the Philippine adaptation of the reality singing competition “The Voice,” along with Lea Salonga, apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas and Bamboo Manalac.

Aside from this, Geronimo will also be starring in her own drama anthology, which will air on the Kapamilya network soon.

Singer-actress recalls 'letting go'

MANILA, Philippines -- Sarah Geronimo is not yet ready to fall in love again.

In a one-hour, uncut interview released online early this week, the Kapamilya star detailed her conditions before entering a relationship.

The interview, where she appeared alongside "It Takes a Man and a Woman" co-star John Lloyd Cruz, was first aired last month on the entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report" as an 18-minute segment, but excluded parts where Geronimo talked about a "past relationship," which she referred to as "shallow."

Geronimo's mention of this "relationship" was prompted by "SIR" host Carmina Villaroel, who asked her "Paano mo alam pag in love ka? Nalalaman mo ba?"

The singer-actress paused to collect her thoughts, before answering: "Kasi ako po, dahil sa lack of interaction or experience talaga... Halimbawa, in love man ako sa isang tao, o kung sino man 'yung..."

Laughing, she continued, "Halimbawa, 'yung past relationship -- relationship talaga? -- sa Skype. Parang doon lang, parang ang babaw."

"Siguro [alam ko na in love ako] pag 'yung feeling na... alam mo 'yung feeling na hindi ka makahinga, hinahanap-hanap mo?" she said.

'Letting go'

Geronimo was previously romantically linked to actors Rayver Cruz and Gerald Anderson, who were both reported to have been "discouraged" to pursue the 24-year-old singer by the alleged disapproval of her parents.

The Kapamilya actress' mother, Divine, specifically became the target of criticisms following the supposed aborted romantic relationships of Geronimo.

Asked how she has learned over time to "let go," Geronimo credited her numerous experiences of having to do so.

"Siguro sa dami ng practice ko," she said, laughing. "Siguro sa daming beses ko na rin pong kailangan mag-let go, hindi lang sa love life, halimbawa sa proyekto like 'Sarah G Live,'" she said, referring to her self-titled concert TV show which ended early this year.

Nevertheless, Geronimo sees "letting go" as a way of determining the worth of certain individuals in her life.

"'Yung pagle-let go mo, doon mo makikita 'yung realization kung gaano ka-importante sa'yo ang isang tao, o ang isang bagay, kung ano talaga 'yung worth niya sa 'yo.

"Pwede kang mag-let go, pero doon mo makikita kung sino ang naiiba, parang ganoon," she said.

'The right me'

When prompted to complete the statement, "It takes a 'blank' for Sarah to fall in love," the singer-actress said she wants to be assured of the genuine affections of the man she will love, and that he is willing to "do anything for [her]."

"It takes a real man. And 'yung readiness, 'yung alam ko sa sarili ko na mahal ko 'tong taong 'to. At bago kita mahalin, I'll make sure na mahal mo talaga ako. Kailangan makita ko at maramdaman ko na gagawin mo ang lahat para sa akin," she said.

She also said she has realized that her parents have been "right" in giving her advice on getting into a relationship.

"[Na-realize] ko kung bakit patuloy akong sumusunod sa mga magulang ko, at patuloy kong nakikita na tama sila, kasi tama, na hindi siya, hindi man sila, hindi pa," she said.

Geronimo said she understands the risks of having her life revolve around one man, which is why she believes she still has to mature.

"Siguro hindi pa dumarating 'yung right me, 'yung pagma-mature ko po siguro, kailangan maging kumpleto muna ako na ako muna.

"Kasi ang tendency baka dumepende ako kung sino man 'yung magiging partner ko eh at pangit 'yon. Siya 'yung magiging mundo ko. Baka kung ano pa ang mangyari kung halimbawang iniwan na niya ako," she said.
