nalilito na ksi ako. marming nagsasabi na mas magnda daw ang naging performance ni rachelle kesa kay sarah sa notc. tpos ung mga songs daw ni sarah ung high parts ay pinafalsetto lang niya. gusto ko lang kasing malamn dun s mga nakapanood. cno ba talga ang mas magnda ang performance? pls. ung totoo. sana iset aside nyo muna kung kanino man kau fans. makasarah din naman me e pero gusto ko lang tlagang malaman.

All I know is this. While Rachelle can reach the high notes, it's nothing really special. While it is good, it's been done so many times before. However, Sarah's voice is one that comes on only every so often. There is class, power, and great uniqueness in her voice. While I haven't seen NOTC, I've seen them perform enough times to make this assessment. There is just that special something in Sarah's voice that I don't hear when Rachelle sings. Just my opinion though.

any singer that is considered good can reach high notes, pero si sarah when she performs...andun yung cnasabi ni JB na power, stage presence, everything.......you may be a singer who can reach high notes, pero wala kang overall package...wala din yun...

lani I think can whistle and can reaches high notes, buo ang voice.....regine reaches super high notes, she has her own unique captivating voice, and a good stage presence ....sino ang mas sikat at mas paborito ng tao?? sagutin nyo na lang yan....

I'm a big Sarah fan but I have to admit, Rachelle outsung Sarah during the NOTC concert.

Malinis talaga ang high notes ni Rachelle at parang walang ka-effort effort ang pagkanta niya that night and lahat ng kasama ko, agree na medyo natalbugan nga si Sarah.

Not to say that Sarah wasn't great. Magaling din si Sarah that night, as in STAR na talaga siya. Pero yun nga lang, people were expecting her to belt powerful notes, but it came out parang bitin. But there's no questioning Sarah's powerful stage presence and the richness of her voice. I loved her version of Alicia Keys "If A ain't got you." Ang galing talaga. Her voice and performance was so mature.


After that concert sobrang excited ako to buy Rachelle's upcoming CD. I bought Rachelle's album yesterday and I was shocked...nadisappoint ako sa CD niya. I expected better vocals since she performed so well during the concert. But hearing her voice...I have to agree with you guys...it's very typical Filipina voice. Crystalline clear and very sweet even during the high notes. But I dunno. Parang may kulang. Even her remake of Selena's "Dreaming of You" was kind of a letdown. This is a very sweet song which should be right up her alley, but it kinda came out flat. I did love her duet with Christian Bautista. Very classic and pure sweet vocals. And I'm not even a fan of Christian.

But still...

It wasn't like the first time I listened to Sarah's CD. As in I was blown away and every hair on my body was standing on end as I listend to her powerful belting in "If Only." In short, Rachelle is a very talented singer...but somehow lacks the richness of Sarah's vocals. Rachelle will also do very well industry, just like Sarah. But I don't think she'll be bumping Sarah off her diva-in-training throne soon.

Anyway, these are just my two cents.


P.S. I notice that in Sarah's "if Only" video (which is kinda old), she wasn't having difficulty with her high notes. It's only recently that i notice Sarah's struggle with the "birit" sections of her songs. Overexhaustion, perhaps?

well etom naman ang say ko based dun sa notc sa pampanga.. kc parehas lang naman yun eh... medyo namangha ako kay rachelle kc ngaun ko lang nalaman na ganunpla kataas ang voice nya!! at sobrang birit tlga nung kay rachelle at parang wla ngan ka efort efort ang mga high notes ni rachelle, magaling c rachelle that night PERO mas mgaling c sarah kesa sknya!!!

Yeah bridget, it is totally overexhaustion. I mean, she has so many obligations she has to deal with. Basically, she is always using her voice so she never gets to rest her vocal cords. I hope they find a way to give her more rest. Like I said before, I love STTP, but it would be better if they cancelled it and gave Sarah a show that was once a week and seasonal so she wouldn't have to work so hard. As much as I love her acting, it is her voice that truly makes her special and what made me become such a big fan of hers. So, they should really try to take care of that more than anything. By the way, welcome to the website bridget.

I learned from someone that days before the Big concert, Sarah's voice was "paos"...because of overexhaustion na nga siguro and palagi me taping and practice..eh madaldal pa naman si sarah.. it is said na pinagbabawal syang dumaldal before concert...eh alam nyo naman ang lola nyo...she is super kikay..I just hope she gets enough rest before those kinds of performnce..


bridget, thanks for the review....I like rachelle too kasi maganda din naman ang voice nya...pero I always say na yung voice ni rachelle is a typical "very good singer" voice, if you get what I mean..oh but I like her performances in ASAP fanatic..

sarah's voice is superb...there is no one in the Philippines that has that kind of voice..pwede pa nyang iimprove yun kasi nga bata pa naman sya.......and I think, right now,wala pa ring makakaabot sa kanya....

During the NOTC Araneta 1, Rachelle proved that she is a champion.. IMO a better champion than Erik Santos.. but no she did not outperform Sarah... At the start.. Sarah came up strong during the first part of the group performances.. but became weak at the closing stages while Rachelle started weak and ended up strong...

i believe that Rachelle collected good reviews from the audience that night because she delivered something that the audience did not expect... they know Sarah's great, Erik too... but they don't know Rachelle that much... so when she sang.. well... now they know who she is..

If you cancel out the group performances (tied).. the only thing left are the solo performances.. and i think i'm not biased if i say that sarah's Celine Dion Medley was the best of the night...

Well berto, there is also the factor of how fresh the girls are. Basically, Rachelle has only ASAP Fanatics to worry about. Sarah has to rehearse for NOTC and her concerts, do ASAP Mania, and STTP. So, it would be understandable if she kind of lagged at the end of the concert.

you guys are right. Dapat talaga bigyan ng time to rest si Sarah. This is the reason why I was apprehensive about Sarah's transfer to ABS-CBN. That network has the tendency to squeeze and milk an artist until he/she bleeds dry from exhaustion. Tapos, kapag nagsawa na ang tao sa artista, they drop him/her from their line-up. Nakakainis talaga. So it's really good that Sarah gets support from artists like Regine Velasquez who point out her need to rest. Sana makinig ang ABS-CBN.

as for her birit abilities...

While i have no doubt Sarah is one of our best belters, I think it's also good that she stay away from songs with "birit" sections. Truth be told, hindi naman sukatan ng magaling kumanta ang pagbibirit. Nakakabilib nga pakinggan, pero kung hindi naman bagay or feel ang song, parang exhibition lang ang dating ng birit.

Sarah's strength in singing lies in her ability to infuse a lot of emotion and meaning to a song. This is why she is able to pull off songs like "if A Ain't got you" by Alicia Keys. Even if that song was full of angst, Sarah was able to deliver the song effectively. It's not really a birit song, but my god, that song is really difficult to sing. But Sarah made it look so easy. For me, that was her best number in NOTC, and not the birit songs with the other champions which was more of vocal calisthenics than actual singing.

Sakit na ng mga pinoy singers ang puro na lang biritan, pero walang emotion sa pagkanta. So far, Sarah is one of the few pinoy singers who can grip your heart while she sings. Other singers are pleasant to listen to, but somehow forgettable.


As for Rachelle, like I said before, she'll also do really well in the music industry. Just listen to her duet with Christian Bautista, yung "You And Me." Her voice is really lovely and that song really suits her. Classy and since it's a duet with Christian, no doubt, number one yan sa mga countdowns once it's released.

Sa mga gustong gamitin si Rachelle para siraan si Sarah, siguro inggit na lang yun sa success ni Sarah. The two girls look like real friends at hindi plastikan. Both girls have their own technique in delivering a song. While i have a preference for Sarah's style, I don't doubt that Rachelle will have her own following soon. I just dunno if it can match the magnitude of Sarah's crowd-drawing power. Kakaiba rin kasi si Sarah on-stage. The audience is putty in her hands everytime she goes up to the mike.

si Erik santos naman...i didn't notice kung pumipiyok siya. The problem with him is that he eats his words. Parang bulol minsan. I think this is easy to correct naman.

good review..i guess i know what to expect when i attend one of their tour shows here in the states!!i'm still hoping that i can go.. why can't they go here in VA??!? :rolleyes: blah1
