Capitol, all set for colorful Kaogma
PILI, CamSur --- An array of colourful and exciting events will mark the celebration of the 430th Foundation Day Anniversary of the province at the provincial capitol complex starting May 23 until May 31, 2009.
Dubbed Kaogma Fusions, Governor LRay Villafuerte is making sure that the festival will be lively and entertaining as the major events that have been lined up during the 9-day celebration will have as emcees or musical entertainers well known movie and TV personalities.
On opening day, May 23, famous singer and actress, Sarah Geronimo will be the special guest of Governor Villafuerte during the colorful Fire and Water Parade Festival in the afternoon. Miss Geronimo will also entertain the crowd with her hit songs after the parade.
Another top-notch singer, Karylle, will be the special guest in the evening of May 27 during the Grand Finals of the Dalan sa Kalangitan.
The final selection and coronation night of the Miss Kaogma Beauty Pageant on May 29 will be emceed by famous TV host, Bobby Yan with matinee idol Dingdong Dantes making a special appearance.
The crowd will not only enjoy but also have the opportunity to win bountiful cash prizes as raffle tickets will be issued when they patronize the Hot Buys, Hot Food booths during the festival. The raffle tickets will be drawn in the Hot Hot Millions show on May 31 featuring well-known comedians Kitkat and Chocolate.
Another sure crowd-drawer during this momentous occasion is the Hot Kids Star Quest 2009 Grand Finals which will feature the casts of Dayo sa Mundo ng Elementalia, the full-length animated film which garnered four major awards—Best Visual Effects, Best Musical Score, Best Sound and Best Original theme song—during the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival.
“Dayo” was largely created by Bicolano animators based at the Animation Studio at the Capitol Complex.
Entertaining and pulse-pounding sports events will again spice the celebration of the festival. Topping the list of sports extravaganza are the 4th Philippine Cable Wake Nationals, the 3-lap Tour of Camarines Sur, Motocross Challenge, Practical Shooting, the 4 x 4 Isarog Challenge, the National Skateboarding Competition and the Buruntolan.
Songs and music will fill the air at the provincial capitol complex. On May 24 after the extreme sports awards night, a Bicol Jam presentation will feature the music of upcoming Bicolano bands at the main stage starting at 7:00 p.m. On May 26, another band called URBANDUB will perform after the Buruntolan awarding ceremony. On May 30, the penultimate day of the celebration, there will be a Musicfest featuring well-known bands from Metro Manila at 7:00 in the evening. (stnieves/mmec)
