Editor's Note (Excerpts by Jo-Ann Q. Maglipon):
This is the third edition of the YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars. Every year for the last three years, we have been choosing 100 local stars to feature among the most good-looking in the land. And every year we attract an audience that totally agrees with our choices and another audience that totally questions every one of them. The latter are most especially bothered by one thing: why their personal favorites are not included. This year, we expect the same mix of reactions.
As lists go, there is no one lineup that will satisfy everybody. Beauty is a matter of taste. it is also, in our case, a matter of category and currency....
This is the YES! List 2009, we stand by it 100 percent, and all we ask is for you to enjoy yourselves!

SARAH GERONIMO
"Sarah is someone who leads people to under-expect, but who then over-delivers and blows them away," the October 2008 issue of Preview says of the 20-year-old singing sensation Sarah Geronimo, the sweet, demure girl who has braved six years in the harsh glare of the spotlight and come through without exposing so much as a blemish.
In fact, that is probably what makes Sarah so compelling and worthy of a place on this list: her ability to surprise. Toiling in relative anonymity in such variety shows as "Pen Pen de Sarapen" and "Ang TV" since she was 4, Sarah made a calculated bid for stardom by joining the IBC-13 singing competition "Star for a Night" when she was 14... and, against formidable odds, scored a victory (and a recording contract) by performing a rousing rendition of Celine Dion's "To Love You More" on the final night.
Sarah's career is a constant example of talent trumping conventional showbiz wisdom. She may not be, in local parlance, "artistahin"--defined as tall, svelte and fair--but that never stopped the mass audience from sending her albums, concerts, and videos to the top of the sales charts. In her undeniable artistry, her down-home charm, her Cinderella rise to fame and fortune, they see the fufillment of their own hopes and dreams.
In 2008, Sarah surprised audiences yet again... by becoming Tinseltown's newest movie star. After delivering a winning performance opposite John Lloyd Cruz in the mammoth hit "A Very Special Love," she followed up with a bigger hit: the sequel. February 2009's "You Changed My Life." As if she needed any more validation of her news status, the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation awarded her the deserved title of 2008 Box-Office Queen.
Sarah may not fit the showbiz definition of beauty, and yet in this regard she may be turning a corner as well. In Mark Nicdao's exhibit of celebrity portraits titled "Alive," held in Greenbelt 5 last March, the ace photographer captured Sarah as the public has never seen her before: womanly, sophisticated... and, dare we say it, sexy. Her hair wet, her blouse demurely slung off one shoulder, her eyes serenely downcast, Sarah surprised yet again, by showing us a girl growing confidently into her thoroughly Filipina skin.

sana tigilan na ng mga nagsusulat yong tungkol sa beauty gaya sa article na ito sabi ni jo ann
maglipon sarah may not fit the showbiz defenition of beauty..................bakit ba maganda naman
si sarah as compared to the mestisahin sa showbiz...nakakainis kasi para bang palagi nalang
