It was another banner year for Star Cinema! The film outfit of ABS-CBN made history when the sequel to their 2008 hit “A Very Special Love” titled “You Changed My Life” grossed more than P230 million in the box office. The John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo starrer remains as the top Pinoy movie to date.

Moreover, four of the top five movies released in the Philippines last year (2009) was made (or co-produced) by Star Cinema, namely “You Changed My Life,” “In My Life,” “BFF: Bestfriends Forever,” and “Tenement 2″ grossing a combined receipts of more than half a billion pesos. And as far back as the 2000’s, Star Cinema has maintained its status as the top producer of movies in the Philippines, scoring one blockbuster after another in any given year. That feat remains to be replicated by other film outfit in the country.
