VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – Provincial officials here headed by Gov. Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano are now preparing various programs, including the launching of a trade fair where native products of Ilocos Sur are going to be sold to the public, in celebration of its 192nd freedom anniversary.
The festivities dubbed “3rd Kannawidan Festival,” Savellano had formed a committee to lead the preparation of programs that are expected to be attended by balikbayans, foreign and local tourists who were impressed by the holding of the 1st and 2nd Kannawidan celebrations that was started and launched by Savellano himself.
The festival is expected to be held on or before January 28, and will be highlighted by mass at the St. Paul Cathedral, followed by a procession that will pass around this city, “Talent Night ti Saniata” where local songs will be aired, and selection of the beautiful Ilokana ladies of the province, among others.
On January 29, the “Partuat ken Patanor Trade Fair,” – display of locally made but quality products – will be held followed by a concert to be performed by True Faith, Rada and Lovi Poe.
On January 30, a Delphic Games will be held, where the talents of Ilocanos will be demonstrated for their unique skills in craft demo, visual and design.
Savellano will then give recognition on the “nabatbati pay nga agar-aramid kadagiti mapukpukawan a produkto iti probinsia (endangered living treasures of the province), and a show by the Bayanihan Dance Company to be participated by various local folk.
While on January 31, a race for horses will be showed to the public that is expected to be witnessed by thousands of Ilocanos who love to see such a unique program.
To further titillate the public, a concert to be hosted by Sarah Geronimo will be shown, then, Culture and Arts Competition, Recognition and Awarding of SIGLAT Awards, Saniata ti Ilocos Sur Pageant, and a Quiz bee to be participated in by various students here, on-the-spot painting, Iloco poem writing, Kannawidan a pay-ayam-Sarsuela Ilocana, Bingo Game and Battle of the Bands on February 3.
