"The Beautiful Filipina"

An offshoot of Magandang Filipina: Beauty for Life, this new volume focuses on the Filipina beauty across generations, as defined by more than sixty people.

It explores the changing definition and images of the beautiful Filipina and tries to answer the age-old question: What is Filipina beauty?

Does anyone really know? Filipina women search for it and make art to capture its essence. They share in the pleasure of it, thrive on it and are often willing to suffer for it.

Filipina Beauty is personal and political. It is elusive and eternal. It does many things: strength, confidence, passion, grace—a sense of style—a turn of the head, a state of mind.

In truth no one can say exactly what Filipina beauty is, but one thing is certain: every Filipina wants it.

There’s the 50 most beautiful celebrities in the coffee table book “Beautiful Filipina”, I wonder why Gloria Romero, Paraluman, Vilma Santos, Rosana Roces, Claudine Bareto, Bea Alonzo, Yasmin Kurdi, Sharon Cuneta, KC Concepcion, Marian Rivera and Angel Locsin are not on the list. We can’t argue with them, for as the old saying goes… beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But think again, this list was made by the finest photographers of the Philippines. Well maybe they could have been included if they expanded the list to 100:>
