MANILA, Philippines - Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo on Thursday tried to lift the morale of international singing sensation Charice, whose role in Glee was allegedly axed because the show's producers did not want to upset the lead star Lea Michele.
"No doubt naman na talagang ibang klase itong si Charice. Ibang klaseng kumanta. Talagang perfect humit ng high note at iba ang confidence niya. Hindi naman siguro siya threat. Siguro may magandang rason. May valid reason kung bakit ganoon," Geronimo told abs-cbnNEWS.com when asked to comment on the issue and if she also sees Charice as a threat to other international artists like Michele.
Geronimo met Charice when she hosted ABS-CBN's defunct talent show "Little Big Star" in 2005. In the show, Charice did not win and placed only third.
"I'm not in the position to comment on that 'di pa natin alam, at di natin alam ang totoo," she explained.
Charice is also set to collaborate with Geronimo.
"Yung collaboration sa ngayon di ko pa nakakausap si Charice about it, pero sana matuloy pa din siya," Geronimo said.

Sarah Geronimo admits she is looking forward to working with Charice

After a few weeks stay in Los Angeles, California where she underwent intensive dancing and singing lessons in one-on-one sessions with various foreign coaches, Sarah Geronimo shared that she enjoyed the experience of learning new things about her craft.
“Hindi naman actually nakapagbakasyon talaga. Yung lessons ko, actually araw-araw talaga yun. Iba’t iba yung teacher ko sa dance, iba din yung voice teacher. Basically parang pareho din nung sa atin pero parang gusto ko lang na mas lumawak pa yung knowledge ko pagdating sa arts, sa craft na meron ako, kung paano sila magturo dun. The same lang din naman at saka nakakatuwa kasi yung aking dance teacher, Jamaican siya so yung movement niya napaka-fluid lang, natural na natural. So pampa-boost lang naman ng self-confidence,” she said.
Sarah said that even with her stature in the country, she does not see herself as a big star. “I don’t consider myself na magaling. Gusto ko talaga matutunan yung proper techniques para mas talagang lumalabas na talaga yung boses ko when I’m singing. Yung hindi talaga yung effort na singing talaga. Yun ang dahilan bakit gusto ko mag-aral,” she shared.
Sarah also admitted she really looked forward to improving her dancing techniques. “Kasi yun din yung parang nagustuhan ng tao, lagi nilang ini-expect sa akin na sing and dance, ganyan. Pero hindi naman ako magpapaka-dancer kasi hindi naman yun yung linya ko, siyempre mas first love ko talaga yung singing,” she said.
In the future, Sarah revealed she wants to try learning other new things as well. “Gusto ko rin mag-baking. Sana may time. Yun pa lang,” she added.
The Popstar Princess also admitted that she was not able to push through with her collaborative project with international singing sensation and fellow Pinay singer Charice because of scheduling conflicts. “Unfortunately, si Charice sobrang busy. She was shooting a movie tapos ginagawa niya rin yung album niya. Hindi ko siya nakausap,” she shared.
The 23-year-old singer-actress said she was not disheartened by the delay in their collaboration because Charice had also shown interest in working with her. “Sayang talaga pero may message siya sa akin na she’s still interested. Gusto niya pa rin matuloy yung aming collaboration. Hopefully sana nga matuloy talaga. Hindi naman namin minamadali. Kung talagang mangyayari, mangyayari,” she admitted.
In her upcoming flick with Gerald Anderson, Sarah plays a radio disc jockey with a lively personality. “Parang ako ang magiging si Miss Nicole Hyala, ganyan. Minsan napapakinggan ko siya. Nakakatrabaho ko kasi si Miss Nicole, siya yung nag-e-emcee ng mga mall shows ko. So excited ako. Baka humingi ako ng mga advice sa kanya,” she shared.
Sarah hopes that she will be able to show a different side of her in the yet-untitled movie. “Katulad ng sinasabi ni Direk Cathy (Garcia-Molina), yung gauge ng pagiging magaling na actor, hindi yan basehan sa klase ng role na binibigay sa ‘yo or sa storya. Kung paano mo ma-e-execute at kung paano mong magagwa ng iba dun sa mga nagawa mo na before, so ayun. Yun ang pagtratrabahuan naming dito na maiba talaga kahit na simple lang yung storya, simple lang mga characters namin. Pero very relatable talaga. I’m sure lahat ng mga kababaihan makaka-relate dito,” she admitted.
