Aliw Awards open for nominations
ONE of showbiz’s biggest events is about to take off: the 24th Aliw Awards is now open for nominations.
The announcement was made by the Aliw Awards Foundation during the contract signing held at Resort World, where the ceremonies will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Nov. 8, 2011.
Present at the contract signing were Aliw past president Leo Baluyut, Aliw Secretary Connie Resurreccion, RWM VP for Marketing Jeffrey Evora, Aliw Awards president Atty. Jeatte Palabrica, Aliw asst. treasurer Rheena Baluyut and RWM marketing Melvin Bermudez.
Screening will be done the whole month of October. Up for grabs will be trophies in various categories, like Best Teen Performer (Male and Female), Best New Artist (Individual and Group) Best Emcee (Male and Female) Best Actor and Actress (Musical and non-musical), Best Performer in Hotels, Music Bars and Lounges (Male, Female and group), Best Major concert (Male and Female), and Best Performance in a Concert (Male and Female).
There will also be special awards given out, while several artists will be named Hall of Famers for their consistently exceptional performances through the years.
Not be forgotten is the hotly-contested Entertainer of the Year award, which has been won by some of the industry’s biggest and best artists, including Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez and last year’s awardee, Sarah Geronimo.
To qualify, performances must have been shown from September 2010 to October 15, 2011. Material of performances and write-ups of nominees such as CDs and DVDs of performances may be sent to: #39 Kirishima St., BF Thai, BF International, Las Piñas City 1740, Metro Manila, Attention: The Screening Committee Chair, 2011 Aliw Awards.
Details of the nominees can also be sent to aliwawards2011@rocketmail.com.

Its really overwhelming na despite her young age and just 8 years in Entertainment Industry, naile-level na yung name niya sa mga top music icons. Which means that SARAH G is already an ICON in her own right!
