Viva artists receive Gold & Platinum Awards

The 24K Gold Record Awards and Platinum Circle Awards were held last December 4 in ABS-CBN's Sunday variety show, ASAP Rocks. These award-giving bodies aim to honor Filipino singers who have made significant achievements through their chart-topping and hit albums.

These OPM artists are given recognition because of their perseverance in keeping the Philippine music industry alive. As explained by Piolo Pascual, "This is ASAP's way of recognizing all the artists and recording companies who worked hard to keep the music industry alive. Mabuhay po ang OPM!"

In the 24K Gold Record Awards, three Viva artists made it to the list. These are XLR8, Yssa Muhlach-Alvarez, and Anne Curtis. Technically, these artists have sold more than 7,500 albums from November 2010 to November 2011 as certified by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry Inc.

Viva's Pinoy Pop boy group, XLR8, who regularly performs in GMA 7's Party Pilipinas, was recognized for their self-titled album. Likewise, the youngest Muhlach in the showbiz industry was also honored for the outstanding sales of her album, Addicted to Acoustic 3.

Meanwhile, Box-office Queen Anne Curtis was also awarded for her album, ANNEBISYOSA. Because she wasn't present in the event, Anne made a video message for everyone. “Sa lahat ng fans ko at followers who bought the Annebisyosa album, thank you so much. Dahil sa inyo, meron na akong 24K Gold Award. Thank you guys!”

On the other hand, Sarah Geronimo and Willie Revillame were given the Platinum Record status for selling more than 15,000 albums from November 10 to November 2011. Sarah received the Platinum Circle Award for her latest album One Heart. On the other hand, Willie was recognized for his album I Love You, released by Viva Records.

Bakit kaya hindi umaangat ang sales ng "One Heart" album? Yan kasi problema sa viva eh. Laging tipid sa promotions. Hindi ko nga nakikitang inaadvertise sa TV yun ehh.
