NAKATUTUWA na nakalulungkot ang nakaraang celebration which Viva Group of Companies' head Vic del Rosario's children — Vincent, Veronique, Valerie and VR (for Vicente Rafael) — organized for their dad's 60th birthday sa Isla ballroom 1 and 2 ng EDSA Plaza Shangri-la last Wednesday night.
Maituturing itong event to think na natupad lahat ng plano ng mga kinauukulan to make it a surprise for Boss Vic. Masasabing panalo to the max ang mga organizer.
The food was good. So was the show na participated in by the current crop of Viva talents.
Nakalulungkot nga lang ang 'di pagsipot ng ilang mga artistang supposedly ay 'natulungan' ng kumpanya ni Boss Vic. We will not name names, in deference to June Torrejon's (a Viva executive) request. We might be adding insult to injury nga naman.

In any case, sabi ng katabi naming non-showbiz sa table, "Baka nanghinayang sa gasolina. Aba, ang mahal yata ngayon ng per liter ng gasoline."

The Viva Hot Babes came in full force as we noticed the presence nina Ella V., Jen Rosendahl, Asia Agcaoili, Katya Santos, Maui Taylor, atbp.
Pauwi na kami nang pumasok sa ballroom si Andrew E. It was Viva who helped Andrew with his movie and recording career.
Dumating din si Phillip Salvador, kasama ang misis na si Emma. He looked fit and trim. Sayang at 'di na uso ang action films ngayon. Phillip still look ideal for it.
Natatandaan naming Phillip was all set na mamuhay ng tahimik sa Amerika with first wife Sony and their three children, when Boss Vic and the late Mina Aragon, nakatatandang kapatid ni Phillip, asked him back dahil may action movie silang gagawin for him.
The rest is history. Naging isang popular at in demand na action star si Phillip.
Marahil, kung hindi namagitan si Boss Vic at, sabihin na nating ang kapalaran, 'di nagkaroon ng Joshua, Vivialyn Dungca (kung kanino nagkaanak din si Phillip) at Emma sa buhay ng aktor.

DUMATING din ang ABS-CBN big boss na si Cory Vidanes kasama si Pat-P Daza-Planas, who is due to give birth to her and former Councilor (3rd district, QC) Mike Planas' second child on November 8. Their eldest, Gabbie, is now four years old.
In the same table where we were seated with Cory and Pat-P, kasama rin namin si Jackie Aquino, former actress na na-link kay Roderick Paulate (yes, si Roderick Paulate), who is also pregnant with her second child. Ang kanyang panganay na babae is five years old.
Jackie is now with the MTRCB (Movie Television Review and Classification Board).
Nasa same table rin si June Torrejon, Lawrence Tan (dating executive ng ABS-CBN), and fellow writers Nini Valera (Inquirier), Salve Asis (PM and Pilipino Star Ngayon) and Ian Fariñas (People's Tonight).
First time naming nakita sa isang showbiz gathering si Jacky Atienza, bagong chairman ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). Si director Laurice Guillen and dating chairman nito.
Dating chairman ng Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) si Jacky, na ngayon ay pinamumunuan na ni Christine Dayrit.

Personal: Our condolences to movie writer and PRO Ross Celino sa maagang pagkamatay ng kanyang panganay na anak na si Vic.
Vic, who was 49, left behind his wife, Joy, and three children, sina Dondon, 28, Veejay, 21 and Valerie, 19. He died of cirrhosis of the liver. His body now lies in state at the Arlington Chapel on Araneta Ave.
Vic will be buried sa Himlayang Pilipino sa Sabado ng umaga (Oct. 29).
