Sarah Geronimo and Charo Ronquillo: Two of a kind

Dreaming of what you want to achieve in life may be well and good, but actually doing something to accomplish your dreams is even better. Homegrown retailer Unica Hija proudly features two successful ladies to represent their brand—popstar Sarah Geronimo and their newest addition, Ford Model Charo Ronquillo.

Both a symbol of triumph and achievement, the two young celebrities are the perfect embodiment of what the brand represents—Filipino pride, style and success.

That sweet face and lovely smile everyone sees on TV, print and even on the big screen, Sarah has been a staple in most household’s television screens and is now fast becoming a budding fashionista.

“I feel blessed and am truly grateful for the trust and support I have been getting from my Unica Hija family. I could not be any more thankful,” said Sarah when asked about her long-time endorsement.

Just like any artist, she needs to look presentable 24/7 and this is where Unica Hija comes in. On regular days, Sarah prefers clothes that are comfortable and simple yet quite stylish.

“Summer in our country can be quite humid. Unica Hija’s newest Summer Collection is perfect for our weather ‘cause it keeps me feeling fresh while I have fun.”

With her busy schedule, Sarah finds time to relax while bonding with her family and friends, reading books, watching movies and of course browsing through fashion magazines.

“It keeps me in the loop on the latest fashion trends. I try to visualize myself wearing those clothes for my shows and TV appearances.” Even with Sarah’s claim to fame—endorsements, platinum albums, movies, and even her very own musical show—she has retained the sweetness and simplicity that she has been known for since her career began. Her advice for girls who aspire to be like her—“Everyone has his or her own time to shine. So keep reaching for that dream and never lose hope and faith in God.”

Meanwhile, described by Bill Ford as “that unique look from the Philippines,” Charo Ronquillo, Ford Supermodel winner, shows her style as she joins the Unica Hija family. Keeping herself grounded despite her sudden boost to fame, she said that winning the 2nd-runner up at Ford Model Supermodel of the World in 2005 was a definite milestone for her.

“But I must say, I am still the same Charo Ronquillo from Laguna that everyone knew. I may have worked in other countries, but my heart will always be in the Philippines,” she says.

Her latest endorsement literally started one morning when she was woken up by her mother agent CalCarrie’s telling her that she’ll be joining a team that will give her a sense of Filipino pride. Charo felt really blessed to be given this opportunity, “To be able to endorse a retail brand that is 100 percent Filipino is something that I really wanted to do.”

One of her favorite items from Unica Hija are their colorful tops, “It’s very me!” She also loves their collection of shorts which she uses in the summer even in New York.

Like a scene from a movie, these two exceptional ladies met and instantly had a connection. Be it their claim to fame or their similarity when it comes to being charming and effortless—no one can really say. How was it like meeting each other for the first time? “Her great moral values reflect in the way she moves, the way she talks and the way she connects with people. She’s very professional and very humble. I am happy and looking forward to working with her again,” says Charo. For Sarah, she mentioned that Charo ‘blew her away’. “Given the fact that she undeniably has a very beautiful face, she’s also very sweet and down-to-earth. It makes her more endearing to every person she works with plus she’s also very simple just like me,” she says with a smile.
