We see it happen in real life: girls wondering why they don't have suitors; and other people—mostly family members—picking on their "no-boyfriend-since-birth" status.
This was how Star Cinema and Viva Films established the story of Catch Me...I'm In Love, which pairs Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson for the very first time.
It starts like most love stories: a girl dreams that her ideal man would come along and sweep her off her feet.
Sarah, who plays the role of Roan Sanchez, is a Plain Jane working as a social worker in Helping Hands, a non-profit organization. Like Sarah in real life, the character of Roan believes that "true love waits."
She is the only girl in the family—which is composed of her brothers played by Ketchup Eusebio, Alchris Galura, and Janus del Prado—and is usually the center of attention.
Completing the Sanchez family are Joey Marquez and Arlene Muhlach as the parents.
In the social strata, she belongs to the middle-class, and lives in Caloocan City, where her family manages a flower shop business.
On the other hand, Gerald Anderson takes the role of Erick Rodriguez, the president's son and tagged as the "most eligible bachelor in the country." After completing his studies in the United States, he returns to the Philippines, where people go on a frenzy!
The laid-back vibe of Roan's family is contrasted by the formal atmosphere permeating the home of the First Family—portrayed by Christopher de Leon, Dawn Zulueta, and Gerald.
In an event organized by Helping Hands is where their paths would cross.
After a particular incident involving a technical malfunction, Roan found herself face-to-face with the president himself. And such meeting would lead to knowing Erick, who eventually became her boyfriend.
There's really nothing so remarkable about the plot, which is fast-paced and straightforward. Unlike most Tagalog films that present a lot of drama and complications, the movie did not have that much conflict as well as resolutions.
Briefly, it touched on Roan's personal issues and Erick's relationship with his dad. It's whimsical in the sense that it showed how love can conquer even the highest position in the land. Imagine an ordinary citizen ending up with the Presidential son?
But the cheesy lines and the acting make up for it.
As the title suggests, it would make you remember the early anxieties and awkward moments of falling in love with someone.
Sarah is commendable for effortlessly assimilating her character, who did a good job in conveying the emotions of a girl who falls in love for the first time, and falls real hard.
Gerald, on the other hand, was able to fill in the shoes of a young man who falls for a girl way out of his league, oblivious to what the others are thinking.
It may be worthy to note Matteo Guidicelli, who—without a fuss—played the jologs friend of Roan. It's his film debut, and his rapping scene is something to look forward to.
He secretly admires Roan, but his character was underutilized because there was hardly any love triangle in the story.
As a whole, it is a feel-good movie showing that one's status in life shouldn't be a hindrance for love. It's something that would make you smile as the credits start to roll. Expect the giggling, swooning, and laughing inside the cinemas!
The movie also makes an attempt to tackle social issues in our country, like poverty and how we, in our little way, can make a difference. The immersion scene in a provincial community provides a heartwarming backdrop to the blossoming romance of Erick and Roan.
But let too much rationalization be put aside. Just relax and get reeled in by the feeling of falling...and falling in love!
Lastly, learn from this film one of the best techniques to snag the love of your life: always be true to yourself.
Catch Me...I'm In Love is showing in theaters nationwide starting today, March 23, 2011. It is directed by Mae Cruz and is graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

thanks for sharing!
May mga konting technical problems like sa Audio pero expected na ito sa isang movie na kakatapos pa lang gawin ay papalabas na agad.
Reminds me of FIRST DAUGHTER yun nga lang kabaligtaran at may touch din ng NOTTING HILL.
Kung na trauma kayo sa dami ng product intrusion ng Hating Kapatid dito halos wala kung meron man hindi niyo mahahalata.
The Best ang movie really worth watching.
Keep on watching guys...hopefully, it will surpass AVSL at the least...
